Sometimes I get asked to preach…

Sometimes I get asked to preach and this still feels very odd to me! I grew in both the Catholic tradition and then in a free evangelical charismatic church - neither of which allowed woman to preach - so I am sometimes bemused at the number of preaching invitations I get!

But it seems that being a theologian in Cambridge comes with an endless supply of such invitations, which are often accompanied by dinner at high tables and plenty of excellent wine, so who am I to turn such invitations down.

Below are the texts of some recent sermons I’ve preached. As ever, I’m happy for people to use these if they’re helpful but please include appropriate attributions where you can.

The Bread from Heaven: John 6: 22-34”. Girton College, Oct 23.

Bible Sunday: Be More Like Jesus”. Westcott House, Oct 23.

Paying Attention to the Dust”. Westcott House, Feb 23.

The Body’s Trauma: Remembrance and Remaking”. Jesus College, Nov 22.

Remembrance Service Sermon”. Westcott House, Nov 22.
